EMILY PRESS, Principal Designer and Founder
As the principal designer, Emily’s practice reflects a dedication to design that helps individuals and families create personalized spaces that will serve them for many years to come. After completing an extensive, “back to the studs,” renovation of her own 1950 home in 2015, Emily discovered a passion for the process of design/build. She spent the next two years working on renovations and new builds across Austin before officially launching Emerald & Laurel in 2018.
Emily believes good design need never be sacrificed for efficiency or functionality, and she approaches projects from this founding principal. She values a thorough and transparent design process and acts not only as a designer, but also as an advocate and partner throughout all phases of the design process. The goal is to produce the highest quality designs while balancing clients’ needs, budgets, and expectations.
As an experienced designer, builder, and project manager, Emily leads her team with a commitment to thoughtful design as well as a timely and efficient construction process. Her hands-on approach managing work sites and dedication to building relationships with her clients as well as the trades who work with her, make a partnership with Emerald & Laurel an enjoyable journey.
